Feed my Frankenstein! Feed it now! Do it!

You see this bird!
Leave her alone!

Killdeer birds nest on the ground.
This one is in the parking lot of the YMCA.

Found some Japanese candy in a clearance cart at the grocery store.
I grabbed a couple of these gummy candies.
Watermelon and Lychee flavours.
Very tasty.

Squishy.
A local sushi place makes a great lychee martini, incidentally.

Off to a dive bar to perform the rock band's first show of the year.
We've had a bit of a hiatus at the start of the year, and several dates
on the calendar going forward.

The job went pretty well.
Enthusiastic patrons happy to dance to our tunes.

Does it look like the bird is on my shoulder?

The murals in this place are slightly unsettling, but it's a hip joint.

The next night I was subbing in for a Cinco de Mayo party at a local
country club. I've played with this group a few times and am starting to
feel a bit more comfortable with the book.
Felt a bit worn out from the night before, but not so much that it was a bad show.
It's been years since I played two nights in a row with rock groups.
I hope that doesn't mean I'm getting old...
Never get old. Can't stop. Won't stop.

Country club gigs are special.
This one offered some fun drink options, and I was
given the last dregs of this nice tequila from the bartender.
He had to open a new bottle, so I got the last half shot from the empty bottle.
I'm not much for tequila, but it's really very good.
Smooth and drinkable.

I looked it up, and while it is a pricey bottle of booze, it is not as expensive as I expected.
Anyway, it was being used in the featured cocktail. A tequila based old fashioned.

Which of course I got to sip on while we played our sets for a very
happy and appreciative country club crowd. πŸ˜‹

Snagged a little pinata party favor from one of the tables.
Shown here with a vintage Griggs Music egg shaker.

My salvia plant has become well established and the blooms are wonderful this year.
A vibrant purple that has attracted some buzzy friends.
About a half dozen large bumbly bumblebees!
I found another salvia plant for the other side of the porch.
Let's hope it can become as big and lovely as the first one.

A friend generously gave me a Roku streaming gadget, so after the
new internet was set up and running smoothly, I got the thing set up.
Maybe this will get me to use my Hulu & Disney+ account a bit more
and actually get something for the subscription that I keep paying for.

I can also watch movies from Tubi, like I was doing with my now elderly
Asus laptop via HDMI cable (after Netflix stopped sending DVDs).
My use of technology is like duct-taping a monkey to a pole and
using it to get apples from the top branches.

Once I had a chance to poke around the Roku homescreen, I found a live channel with
Baywatch episodes. There is a very funny YouTuber that I've been following for
a lot of years now, and she has a series called Baywatching, in which she
goes through each and every episode of Baywatch.
It's really a silly show, and her reviews highlight the silliness in the best way.
Movie Nights/Allison Pregler - Baywatching, if you want to check it out.

Baked up a piece of salmon in the air fryer.
I wrapped it in parchment paper and let it cook for about 9 minutes at 400°
Came out perfectly done. Delicious.

It's farmers market season!
I had a slow morning, so got out to see what's in the stalls.

Staying within my set cash budget, I got some veggies, a dozen local eggs,
two wooden birds for the garden, and, not shown, an egg burrito, two samosas, and some coffee.

Remember the shamrock plant I got at solo fest judging night?
It's taking off. I repotted it into a slightly roomier pot, and remind myself
to water it more than once a week, and it's grown a lot.

I love the morning light in the dormer window.
Especially nice on mornings that I don't have get up right away and can relax.

Do you see the heron?
Headed out of town Mother's Day Sunday to see the family in Burlington.
Quick nature stop at Credit Island Park.

Nice weather for a road trip.

We usually remember to snag a selfie, but everyone forgot, I guess.
So, here ya go. A wire mother for mother's day.

Back home, I pulled the stored canna lily bulbs from the basement and
got them settled into their spots in the yard for the summer.
They are already sending up shoots.

Cooked up a bunch of the farmers market veggies and got some
serious meal prepping done.
The veggies taste great.

Personally, I think people only do their brows because they like playing
with the spoolie brush.

Rawk show on a school night!
In 2020 I bought a ticket to see Alice Cooper at the Adler Theater.
It was cancelled due to the Rona pandemic.
So I tried again this year, to see his show at the Vibrant Arena (the Mark in Moline).

A really fun show!

He has a kick-ass band and the theatrics are great.

One of the guitarists is a woman, Nita Strauss, who can shred along with the best of them.
Not a weak spot in the whole group. Quality musicians all around.

And I got to see the legendary guillotine routine.

Neat trick!

Feed my Frankenstein!!!

It was a fun concert. And Alice is a good entertainer.
Also, as I recently learned, Alice, born in Detroit as Vincent Furnier,
legally changed his name to Alice Cooper in the 70s so he could maintain
the rights to his image by differentiating it from the original band
that he started, called Alice Cooper.
Basically, a way to keep the rights to his creation.

My friend Tammi was giving away a few small Lego things.
She's been building a whole garden of Lego plants.
I chose two of them, and started building one.
The pieces are so tiny!
Not too difficult to figure out though.
You'll have to come back next time to see the finished Lego flowers.

till we meet again....🌺🌻🌼
