A moment of pause before the end of the year smacks us all in the face.
Focusing on getting the house into shape.
Starting with the turtle's house.
Found this snazzy platform that is a perfect replacement to
the old, crusty, worn-out platform she has had to deal with for
far too long.
I arrived in pieces, with a bunch of small zip ties.
I put it together and made sure it was solid and stable, then
let Sammi check it out.
I did pick her up and place her on the platform once, just to
let her know what it was for, then let her work out the rest on her own.
She immediately jumped back into the water, but after I walked away
for a while, I found her sitting on the platform enjoying the warmth
from the heat lamp. She'd figured out the ramp and is now all set.
It's taller than the last platform, so I can raise the water level, and, after
attaching some big suction cups to it and anchoring it to the glass, it
seems pretty stable.
It's also a bit wider than the old platform. More room
to stretch out and just be more comfortable.
Ya gotta make your turtle's life comfy and happy.
She's now going into winter mode, so that'll save
me money on turtle food for a few months.
Suspicious activity or winterizing the yard?
Pulled out the tarps and bungee cords and wrapped up the
stuff outside. This is the new electric mower.
I wrapped it in this big blue tarp, then wrapped it into a second tarp.
I can't get it downstairs into the basement without falling on the
small, narrow stairs and breaking all of my bones, so I decided
to wrap it up to protect it from moisture and pests, and will
leave it outside next to the house. The battery is stored inside the house.
Best I can do. Hope it starts again next spring.
All wrapped up and ready for a long winter's nap.
A cookie decorated to look like a pie.
Just give me a bunch of cans of tuna and call me Neil Breen.
Gradually replacing/upgrading the electronics this year.
I have a tendency to use stuff until it either breaks or is no longer
useable, as is the case of my electronics.
I used my last tablet until it bricked itself out of exhaustion.
The current tablet is begging for the same fate.
So I picked up a cheap Fire tablet to eventually take its place.
And, because I'm pretty sure the price of electronics will
take a huge jump next year with all the tariff talks, I decided to
replace the laptops while they were still affordable.
A weenie lightweight laptop for video streaming and Candy Crush,
and a new workhorse with a big processor for video and audio editing.
Merry Mothman!
Speaking of editing, part one of the Canada vlog is posted on my YouTube channel,
if you are interested in seeing what my vacation in the Canada Rockies was like.
Cooking up a pile of veggies for meal prep.
Yum!
Decorated the house. Screaming Pines is in its festive attire.
The Xmas Cactus and all the tinsel was brought out the attic.
Got some evergreen for the front door.
Another year of tolerating the Christmas holidays, so may as well
get the house into the spirit.
Night before Thanksgiving gig in Keithsburg, IL.
The flock was rawkin. 🦃🦃
More Thanksgiving fun with the annual YMCA Turkey Trot.
Momster and I went minimal this year with our turkey hats
and jogged ourselves five miles through town on a cold
Thursday morning.
Then, it was again time for Saxophone Christmas!
Over 100 saxophonists gathered in the local mall to serenade
listeners with holiday music. The soprano section is always top-tier 😏
Took advantage of the Black Friday sales to stock up on
some Origins skincare. The Youth Serum is so good.
Leaves my face soft and hydrated and feels great.
And I really like the Ginzing SPF 40 tinted moisturizer for day use.
Origins is a bit spendy ($$$), so I will happily take advantage of
their sales deals to stock up the good stuff to use all year.
And, finally, the holiday sweaters have broken out of their cage
and are ready to run amok.
After watching the neighbor chase their dog through my yard for ten minutes.
Get ready for christmas overload, I guess.
