I watch a lot of YouTube. Not much TV, at least not new network TV. Reruns or old movies or PBS. But I do make full use of my Intertoobs connection by watching videos.

So what do I watch when I'm not reading or making silly puppet videos or working on a new music project or trapped at work? Read on to find out...

IntheFrow - Northern British woman who features fashion, beauty, travel and lifestyle. She's the only "influencer" I bother with anymore because she's self-aware, without conceit, and sometimes funny. Her content is creative and thoughtful. Her Instagram is great.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Watching a lot of these lately. Robots and Joel or Mike suffer through bad films while trying to keep each other from going too crazy. Hilarity often ensues.

Nacho Video - I don't know who this guy is, but he edits together the most amazing footage from concerts and interviews of David Bowie, Iggy Pop, The Clash, and an assortment of other great new wave bands from yesterday. He makes good stuff.

Lindsay Ellis - Back in her Channel Awesome days she was the Nostalgia Chick, which is where I noticed her. Her old movie reviews are funny and enjoyable to rewatch, but her new content is far more thought-provoking. If you like analysis of pop-culture via film reviews, she's worth checking out. And she's recently written a book.

MovieNights -  Allison Pregler's early reviews (Obscurus Lupa) are a bit raw but her jokes and riffs are funny. I absolutely adore her Baywatching series (an episode by episode takedown of the 90s cheese-in-a-can phenomenon that is Baywatch). I enjoy her current content too, and her love of schlocky action movies and Cynthia Rothrock are endearing.

Cinema Snob (Stoned Gremlin Productions) - I actually met him a couple years ago! Brad Jones is yet another Channel Awesome byproduct whose old stuff is almost better than his new stuff. His type of movies are a bit more acidic than the other reviewers, as he frequently goes in for gore and porn parodies. But I do greatly enjoy his reviews of Christian victim complex movies that are not even so bad they're good. He does a good job of poking holes in faulty logic. I annually watch his review of the Oogiloves in the Big Balloon Adventure. It's just so silly. He also has several series running different categories of content. I usually skip the Brad Tries. Sorry, Snob.

Storied - PBS sponsored channel that features the Monstrum series. Monstrum features famous and not-so-famous monsters from all over the world, with an eye to each creature's lore, history and fables. Dr. Z is the perfect host, as her love the monsters shines through in each episode. The Storied channel also carries content about literary topics and history as portrayed through literature.

Honorable Mentions

Creators I don't watch exclusively, as their content isn't always interesting to me, but I certainly enjoy them and their efforts.

Phelan Porteous  - His reviews of badly made cartoons are funny. Animal Soccer World is a favorite episode. His old episodes reviewed  80s and 90s movies, often times veering into scary and gory, and his Mac and Me review is a classic. I usually skip the bootleg toy episodes, but his reviews of the train-wreck that is Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation are gold.  He sometimes does crossovers with Allison Pregler on her MovieNights channel, which for me is kind of hit or miss, but they usually work well together.

Ryan Hollinger - Another guy from across the pond. If not Northern UK, probably Irish? Northern Ireland? He talks about media, mostly in the horror genre. Movies, but sometimes games. His commentary and reviews are less for the funny and more for the "make you think a bit" angle. I watch what episodes interest me or for ideas of new stuff to check out.

Cynical Reviews - Yet another Brit reviewing movies, but he likes to take down bad movies or niche movies or internet weirdness. He's another with content kind of all over the board, so I take some and leave some.

Maggie Mae Fish - She's grown on me. Her reviews are more like video essays and she digs a bit deeper into a subject than just a standard movie review. She also is wonderfully self-aware and stylish.

Add to that some odd bits of crazy, rich Asians showing off their crazy, expensive stuff or weird historical or spooky stories and you get an oddly well-rounded video experience.

Now stop staring at that screen and go outside for a walk.

P.S. You can also find my own YouTube channel at the Lawnchair Antelopes handle. :-)
