Southwest Adventure Part 4

Day 2, Continued - Monument Valley

We are now in Navajo Nation.

This is definitely my favorite part of the tour. I love this landscape!
Not sure where my affinity for the desert comes from, but it's so peaceful
and I find it really beautiful.

The Elephant.

Our jeep tour bounces us through the valley, stopping at several places along the way to take photos and sweat a bit more.

The crowds weren't too bad, as it was later in the day. There were several other jeeps bouncing around the loose gravelled roads, and our Navajo guide did a good job of not running into any of the other drivers.

Our jeep driver makes a last stop before returning us to our campsite to play us a few tunes on his flute.

Hearing the sound off the high cliff walls was amazing. The area was so spread out, other people aren't heard as much, and it's possible to hear the quiet.

LIIIIIIFT!

We pack into the van again and head off to a nearby ranch for a homecooked meal of Navajo tacos and lemonade.

It was simple, but really tasty, with a vegetarian friendly option for me.

After dinner, we played with the family's dog and cat, and watched the sun set over the monoliths.

Sunrise behind the East Mitten.
This shot is from our campsite!
See you soon for Part 5!
