November shenanigans

Winter weather has arrived.
Do you have your parka and mittens?

Voted in local election.
Doing my civic duty.

Baked up some pumpkin bread.
Yum

Got bitten by something.
Made this constellation of marks on my wrist.
I think it was a spider.

Saw the Frankenstein movie before it left the theater.
The Guillermo del Toro one.
It's not too bad. It isn't perfect.
The pacing drags in the middle and the messaging gets a bit
heavy-handed at the end, with an undeserved forgiveness
of Dr. Frankenstein. The Creature spends his whole life searching for his
"father" and then suddenly decides that all's well and forgives him?
I give it 7 out of ten dismembered thumbs up.

After the movie, I had a ticket for the symphony concert, but had some
time to kill. Took my book to the local lounge and had a tasty black manhattan cocktail.

Steven Banks, saxophonist, was a featured soloist for the night's program.

A lovely piece written by Billy Childs.
Banks then performed Debussy's Syrinx as an encore.
Very nice.

The spots got worse, and very itchy.

If I cover them, I won't scratch them.

This strategy worked and allowed them to heal over.
The spots eventually lost their redness and itchiness and now
I am left with a few faint scars. Maybe they will go away with time.

Found a jar of gourmet peaches at the local Aldi.
The peaches were very good and I ate them all within a few days.
The juice was too good to waste, so I mixed it with some leftover rum.
With peach garnish it made a pleasant cocktail.
Kinda tastes like a schnapps.
I saw this done in a Western movie, where the character poured some
whiskey into a can of peaches. He ate the peaches, then drank the peach whiskey juice.
Sounded interesting, so I tried it.

Breakfast of champions.
Camembert cheese on crackers with peaches.
Yummy!
I have been on a fancy cheese kick lately. I like the Camembert a bit
better than brie on crackers.

A warning light came on in the Whale.
Something about tire pressure.
So, I got out my gage and tested all of the tires and checked
the results to the chart on the car. All four checked out as fine,
so, I don't know why the light is on.
Oh, well, guess I'll just keep a lookout to make sure I don't end up
with a flat tire with the cold weather.

November has been a boring and not boring month.
Nothing too special on the calendar but have managed to stay busy anyway.
Broke out the warm hoodies.

Caught the light in a dusty sunbeam.

I somehow ended up with a coin from the Philippines.
It kind of looks like a US coin, so I think it was mistakenly mixed into
someone's change.

I don't know why I keep collecting all the different
parodies of this painting.

Here is Santa Devouring an Elf
Inspired by Goya's Saturn Devouring his Son

Festive.

Got out of town for a Sunday, as seen in the HOUSE #1 and #2 posts.

Managed to get this project done.
Got out the recording stuff and brushed off the software and recorded
myself playing the Clarinet Polka trio.

Featuring everybody's favorite plastic skeleton,
Alejandro Skellyton.
Some old photos, too.
Some from the Quarantown days in the old apartment.

It was partially a challenge to get myself to complete the
project within two hours. From recording to upload.
So the clarinet parts are all in one take.
Which is why there are a few mistakes, if you listen closely.
I just had to get myself to do it.
I have a habit of thinking of ideas for projects, and then getting just busy enough to
prevent myself from completing them.
I need to push myself over that bad habit and just
do the projects.

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5 mile fun run.
I was the only seagull in a sea of turkeys.

Time to decorate Screaming Pines.

Some old things and a few new additions.

An old ornament my mom gave to me from when I was a kid.
This clarinet ornament was a gift from a student.

Can't decorate a tree without Mardi Gras beads.
And a few more gifted ornaments.
A lot of my ornaments are gifts. I didn't really have a proper tree until
now, so didn't have much use for ornaments, and so just don't buy them.

It snowed.
Freaking winter wonderland, I guess.

Sigh. Have to go out into the snow for Saxophone Christmas.

Made it!

Oh lawd, he comin.

Saw the first Wicked movie last year, so had to catch the resolution this year.
Act II of the stage play.
Pretty good. A satisfying ending.

A tasty seasonal cider.

😱😱😱🙀

Ordered some seasonal flavors from Bobo's.
Gingerbread and Pecan Pie.
Tasty snacks that are travel well.
The Pecan Pie is nice.

Found this tribble in my werk stocking.
LOL

Not only snow, but cold.
Where are my mittens?

Hipster reindeer gets to hang out on the tree this year.

The only appropriate topper for this tree.

I guess I'm ready to get festive.
