Oy, it's been a busy few weeks.
Valentine's Day.
My Valentine gave me some lovely flowers :^)
Red Clarinet got some work lately.
Roaming around in the snow.
Aww, Bowie wrote an autograph to me.
Well, not me. Someone with my name. Haha
This is one of his passport photos from 1979.
(Obviously, this is a copied photo I took from the Information Superhighway)
Keep going through Hell.
Outlaw Soaps went out of business. But I snagged one of the
Cursed Cowboy mugs before the shop closed.
And still have a considerable collection of great smelling soaps and lotions left to use.
Mississippi River at night.
Had a ticket to see Roman Holiday at the downtown movie theater,
so headed out a bit early to grab a tasty gingerbread cocktail at the Distillery before showtime. Yum!
The local gas station dinosaur was given a scarf.
It was cold.
Busted out the soup pot and cooked up some tasty veggie chili.
Oh yeah, that's the stuff.
Don't be stingy with the chili powder. 🌶
Egyptology class.
The class was held on Sundays for two hours through February.
This class was very good for my plans this year.
Learned a lot and got ideas about where to go next to keep
educating myself before my big trip.
Treadmill workouts.
Cardio Cinema, bay-bee.
Completely by chance, I found this small Gypsy figure.
I wasn't looking for it, but it popped up in a related shopping search.
Well, of course I had to make an offer on the eBay listing and I won her!
Ain't she great!
I wasn't even sure there was a Gypsy robot figure out there.
These are the original figures that were sold in DVD collections in the 90s.
Here is Gypsy with my previously found Tom Servo.
Attended a shockingly modern saxophone recital and masterclass.
I like masterclasses. It's like sitting in on a lesson and learning new
teaching ideas.
Winter chic?
Found this t-shirt on sale at Raygun.
It references the state motto: Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain
while also referencing the Satanic Temple statue in the Capitol.
Which has as much right to be there as any other religious icon.
And as your local, humble atheist, I support religious rights to anyone as long as
it isn't at the expense of another's religious right.
Some great sunsets lately.
Look at those colours.
Some books.
In the Garden of the Beasts by Erik Larson.
I enjoyed his book about the Chicago Worlds Fair, and this book has
been on my bookshelf for a while. I think it's a timely book to read about now.
It is about the Dodd family, a US Ambassador in Berlin at the time
of the rise of the Third Reich. As history is repeating itself within our
borders, I figured it's a good time to dig into it.
And, because Africa is a huge place with lots of stuff in it, I will
work through another history book of the continent. This time, paying
special attention to the chapters on Egyptian history.
A lovely symphony concert, featuring works by Ravel and Elgar.
With some new works featuring a viola soloist in between.
Kicking off a marathon work session with a night of
judging clarinet solos at a local junior high school.
The kids did great! Lots of good preparation.
And, I won the flowers at dinner.
Shamrocks.
The purple flowers have since opened up.
I hope it likes its spot near an Eastern window in the house.
I found him!
This was less by chance. It was a targeted search on the online auction site.
I think I didn't find it before because I wasn't using the right keywords.
Guess I found the right keywords, because I found the Crow figure!
The whole Satellite of Love is back together.
I'm glad there are only three of these, because I can't keep doing this.
All of them came with the original packaging and DVDs.
And the Gypsy figure was still sealed in the plastic.
😊😊
Took a moment to fix a hole in a pillow and while I had the sewing kit out,
I closed some newly developed holes in Elijah Whale.
I've had this whale for ages.
The corduroy belly is falling apart though.
Someday, I'll need to figure out who to replace the belly material.
Maybe a stuffed animal medic out there can fix him.
Anyway, the patient is resting comfortably, and will make a full recovery.
